OPEN POSITIONS:

Position: Tax Consultant

As a Tax Consultant, you will assist tax managers and partners with limited supervision in completing tax incentive studies for a variety of clients.  This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete studies for the R&D tax credit, as well as other specialty incentives as needed
  • Obtain and analyze client data using Excel models
  • Write detailed reports and narratives
  • Research, understand, and analyze many internal revenue codes, treasury regulations, tax court cases, and other cases
  • Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review by IRS and FTB examiners
  • Perform site visits for clients as needed around the country
  • Interview clients in-person, over the phone, and via e-mail
  • Work remotely from home office
  • Communicate and interact directly with clients, CPAs, administrative staff, partners, and CEO about project status, etc.

 Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law or related field required
  • Previous experience with R&D tax credit projects in quantification and documentation preferred
  • Candidate who is pursuing a CPA license preferred
  • Some travel required (about 10% of work time traveling)
  • Time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a variety of tasks and projects

Position: Client Engagement Support

As Client Engagement Support, you will assist engineers and partners with limited supervision in building and maintaining client relationships. You will support the team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice. This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update CPA referrals and relationships in CRM
  • Schedule and prepare for conference calls with prospective clients
  • Create RFIs, shared folders, Salesforce entries, Results Letters, Engagement Letters and proposals
  • Handle administrative tasks from the partners on the leadership team
  • Maintain constant contact with clients to strengthen relationship and obtain necessary information to keep projects moving forward
  • Create, update and prepare presentations for webinars. Solicit organizations to secure future webinars
  • Create and post content for marketing campaigns and social media engagement
  • Coordinate both small and large company events
  • Coordinate travel and scheduling needs for partners
  • Some travel required (up to 5% of work time traveling)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Sales and executive administrative experience preferred
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Strong phoning skills
  • Previous experience with CRM such as Salesforce preferred
  • Previous work experience in AEC industry a plus

Position: R&D Tax Intern

As an R&D Tax Intern (paid position), you will assist consultants and technical writers with limited supervision in completing tax incentive studies for a variety of clients. You will support the R&D Tax Team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice.  This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical report writing
  • Assist experienced consultants with R&D tax studies
  • Shadow and support consultants performing Research and Development tax incentive studies
  • Manage training materials and documentation
  • Introduction to specialty tax incentives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS or related field
  • Interest in accounting and tax a plus
  • Previous work experience in architecture, engineering, and construction industry a plus
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Position: Tax Law Intern

As a Tax Law Intern (paid position), you will assist our R&D Tax Team as well as our Partners and Audit Defense Team with limited supervision in completing studies for a variety of clients. You will support the Partners and R&D Tax Team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice.  This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and briefing on major court cases for use in company trainings, audits, and marketing presentations
  • Support for federal and state tax examinations, including:
    • Reviewing, summarizing, and drafting responses to audit correspondence,
    • Preparing protest letters and responses to information document requests
    • Assisting with audit meeting presentations and preparing for same
  • Communicate with partners and staff regarding opinions, pending cases, and publications relevant to BRAYN’s tax services
  • Develop an understanding of the available Federal & State tax programs available and review statutes to develop arguments for improving service lines
  • Assist on R&D tax credit and other incentive studies as needed, including:
    • Write detailed reports and narratives,
    • Research and analyze the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and relevant court cases
    • Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review by IRS and state examiners

Skills & Qualifications

  • Working towards JD or related field required

Position: Engineering Associate I

As an Engineering Associate, you will assist project managers and partners with limited supervision in completing tax incentive studies for a variety of clients. You will support the team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice. This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete studies for Cost Segregation, 179D Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deductions, 45L Energy Efficient Home Credit as well as other specialty incentives as needed
  • Perform energy modeling analyses for 179D studies
  • Perform takeoffs using construction drawings and site inspections
  • Estimate unit costs using industry standard techniques, RS Means, and other industry costing data
  • Analyze construction cost ledgers, contractor payment applications, and other cost documentation
  • Write detailed reports and narratives,
  • Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review by IRS and FTB examiners
  • Project Management
  • Coordinate & perform site visits for clients as needed around the country
  • Pursue allocation letters as necessary for 179D Projects
  • Communicate and interact directly with clients, CPAs, administrative staff, partners, and CEO about project status, etc.
  • Coordinate the delivery of project results with client and accounting staff to ensure proper billing.
  • Some travel required (up to 20% of work time traveling)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field required
  • Candidate who is pursuing a Professional Engineering license preferred
  • Previous experience with Energy Modeling (Especially eQUEST) a plus
  • Previous experience with Cost Segregation studies or construction estimating (preferably in mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing trades) a plus
  • Previous experience with CAD, Drafting, and/or BIM a plus
  • Previous work experience in AEC industry a plus
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a variety of tasks and projects

You will support the Engineering Team and our clients on a regular basis and be an essential component of our growing practice.  This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical report writing
  • Assist with energy efficiency studies such as 179D, 45L and Cost Segregation
  • Manage training materials and documentation
  • Shadow and support engineers performing engineering related tax incentive studies
  • Introduction to energy modeling related to building science
  • Learn about site-visit process

Skills & Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
  • Previous experience with CAD, Drafting, and/or BIM a plus
  • Programming languages such as Python a plus
  • Previous work experience in architecture, engineering, and construction industry a plus
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
